Molecular Identification and Species Richness of Flies (Diptera) and Their Associated Bovidae Hosts at Cattle Farms in Selangor, Malaysia

Flies (Diptera) play a significant role in the ecosystem as pollinators and decomposers, they are also important vermin disease vectors. Studies on dipteran species still lacking Malaysia; therefore, species’ biology, morphology, distribution, abundance necessary. The objectives of this study were to identify using molecular approach, determine flies’ Bovidae hosts, investigate diversity fly’s at three different cattle farms purposively selected Selangor, Malaysia. fly identified cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) (Haematopota javana, Tabanus rubidus, fontinalis, Iranihindia martellata, Musca domestica, Chrysomya megacephala), while another six only up genus level ( Haematopota sp. 1, Asilus sp., Metopia Anasillomos Ommatius sp.). In addition, two hosts: Bos indicus taurus, proven be associated host for based data b (cytb). However, there no differences between richness (F = 1.262, df 2, p 0.2459 >0.05). Interestingly, most dominant genera collected from Chrysomya. At same time, its may have been influenced by structure cage flooring, which serves breeding site food source.
